Cirebon is located in West Java province. West Java province is located between Central Java province, Banten province, and also with Jakarta. West Java has 25 cities and manucipalities. One of them is Cirebon.
Cirebon is located of Tegal regency on Central Java and Sumedang, Majalenga, Indramayu, Kuningan regency of West Java. Because of that, Cirebon has some cultures wich mixed by two cultures. There are Javanese from Central Java and Sundanese from West Java.
Everybody, because has a tropical season, Virebon has two season. There are Dry season and Rainy season. Dry season usually start March-September and Rainy season start from September-March. Along time ago, thr season came to time. But now, the season can’t read anymore because of global warming. And now is Rainy. We have to always take your umbrella, raincoat or something like that if you want get out from the hotel.

Everybody, Cirebon’s names is come
from “Caruban” means state that has many cultures or many tribes and ethnic.
Along time ago, Cirebon or Caruban was used by foreign vendors. They came to
Cirebon business. The foreign vendors came from Arabic and China. So, the
cultures of Cirebon also is mixed by Arabic, Chinese and Javanese as an own
culture.
Because the position or Cirebon is near a beach so Cirebon City called Ci-rebon, which derived from Ci and Rebon, Ci is a place or locatin and Rebon is shrimp. Because Cirebon is the city which produce many shrimp. So, Cirebon is called as Kota Udang or the City of shrimp. And in Cirebon the shirmp is made for terasi and petis is a typical food from Cirebon, terasi usually used for seasoning. And one of food which made from terasi is sambel terasi. And petis like a cream but petis has black colour, spicy flavor and shrimp smell.
Everybody, formerly, Cirebon was an Islamic kingdom. It lead by Sultan or king which is we usually called “Susuhanan” or Sunan. The first king who was ruld is Raden Walangsungang. Then, it continued by his cousin, namely is Syekh Hidayatullah or Sunan Gunung Jati. Sunan Gunung Jati is one of Walisongo from West Java. Do you know Walisongo ? wali is means the first person who was separated Islam in Java Island. As i asking, in the past past time Cirebon was lead by a king, but now Cirebon was not the Kingdom. At which, Cirebon is ruled by mayor and region. Why Cirebon ruled by two leader ? Because, Cirebon is divided into two, there are City and manucipality.
Everybody, the population of Cirebon is around 3 milion people. Most of them are Javanese. But, the unique thing of Cirebon people is Cirebon in West Java which is had Sundanese language. But most of them can’t use Sundanese language. If someone understanding Javanese and used it, he can’t understand of Sundanese and also he wouldn’t use it for his language. And if one person understanding Sundanese and used it, he can’t understand of Javanese and also he wouldn’t use it for his language. That’s the unique of Cirebon people. At least, they have an own language. This language is mixed of Sundanese and Javanese. For example is “Priben Kabare?”. Would you follow me that say, “Priben Kabare?” that’s good. (pointed someone to do a practice) thank you. “Priben Kabare?” is means “How Are You” in English. Most of Cirebon people sometime said that if they meet with their friends who has didn’t meet for many time. They will say it with shaking hands. Like this. It’s means, they are so happy to meet their old friends.
Everybody, beside of the people, the unique thing of Cirebon also can see by the area. Cirebon people has different jon in many area. For example is in the north of Cirebon is Beach. So, most of people near beach is Fisherman. And the people in Trusmi, they will take make Batik for ther job because Trusmi is the central of Batik in Cirebon.
Many cultures, many people, and many job in Cirebon. It is also give an impact for the food. Cirebon has a traditional food such as Docang, Epal Gentong, Tahu Gejrot, Nasi Jamblang, and manymore. Some of food has a history behind the name. For example is Docang. Docang is a food Lontong or Rice cake on a bowl that is cut until some pieces. Then, it pouring with soup which has make of Oncom that was broked. For long time ago, in Sultan era, this food was a potion by Prince Rengganis for killing the Sultan. Princee Rengganis made a new food from the residual food of sultans which didn’t run out. So, he was the first person who was made Docang and served it into the middle of the guardians or Sultan who were gathered in Masjid Sang Cipta Rsa. But, the sultans didn’ killed. But they like it eveb ask more. That’s why Docang is famous the Food of Wali.
Well everybody, we will going to Vihara Welas Asih is the oldest Chinese temple in Cirebon. Based on the story, this temple was built on the sea. And Welas Asih was take from the name of queen who has stayed in tis temple from long time ago. So, the name of this temple is Vihara Welas Asih or Welas Asih Temple.
